Dear Fissure Friends,

We have all seen the devastation as a result of the recent catastrophic tsunami.  Right now there is a tremendous outpouring of aid, both physical and financial occurring in the areas hit the hardest.  I am in awe watching individuals pull together to save people they don’t know, clean up buildings they don’t own, and start towns and villages back on the road to recovery they don’t live in.  Everyone who shows up, just pitches in based on what they can do (skills) and what needs to be done.  It is a tragic situation, but the teamwork is at the highest level of productivity.  In thinking about “why?” I come back to two simple principles that apply to all teams: the goal is clear and elevated, and the rewards (personal) are practically immediate.

Geof Lory’s article talks about goals and vision and how important they are to the productivity and success of the team and the project.  Of course he uses his family to help us understand and relate to the topic of a shared vision.

We have awakened the “sleeping bear”.  Ed Tilford, Sr. (a.k.a. “the bear”) had so much fun with his last article, he has contributed another one for this newsletter.  If you know Ed, you undoubtedly know about his gift for storytelling and asking questions.  After reading his article, you will also know where his gift came from.

Our upcoming public workshops are in the left hand panel - our computer simulation based workshops are an effective and fun way to learn AND EARN PDUs.  Make sure you also check out what’s happening at Fissure (Fissure News).

Thanks for reading and have a great day,

Jesse Freese
